Meet Our Founder
Lisa Velasquez was born in Los Angeles, California, as the youngest of eight children, with six brothers and one sister. From the very beginning, she was exposed to domestic violence in the womb as her mother endured physical abuse from her biological father. Growing up, Lisa witnessed her adoptive father engaging in physical assaults against her older brothers.
As she navigated through life, Lisa experienced three unhealthy and abusive marriages. Determined to channel her experiences towards making a positive impact, she made the courageous decision to leave her last abusive relationship in December 2014. Motivated by her personal journey, Lisa founded “Safe Dock” in 2018.
Currently, Lisa serves women in a counseling capacity, offering support and guidance in dealing with domestic violence issues. She provides individual and group counseling sessions, leveraging her own experiences to create a safe and empowering environment for her clients at Safe Dock.
Lisa’s personal experiences, coupled with her professional expertise, have helped shape Safe Dock into an organization that is committed to helping victims of domestic violence heal and thrive. Her passion, dedication, and tireless efforts have helped countless individuals find hope and healing, and her work continues to make a lasting impact in the lives of many.
